St Davina – The Surprising Pre-Wedding Heroine

I have come to realise the only thing that matters in the lead up to your wedding is staying sane. This, believe it or not, is much harder than it seems. My problem is that I am a complete control freak meaning that I have planned everything single handedly and meticulosly. The process has been enjoyable but there have been times where the sheer amount of work that goes into planning a wedding, has got on top of me – these times however are few and far between because I have a secret weapon.

Davina McCall.

Yes, the Davina McCall. I wish I could say she is a close personal friend, it might make for a more interesting post, but she’s not. I’m talking about every single Davina McCall fitness DVD ever released. They are quite simply my saving grace and you, who is about to wear possibly the most expensive dress you’ll ever own, have no excuse for not looking and feeling your best.

The DVD format is normally two 25 minute cardio sections and then smaller 10 minute toning sections – and if you say you don’t have 10 minutes a day even just three days a week, to work out you are, quite simply, lying. I don’t believe in a massive diet overhaul before your wedding, your partner loves you as you are and you are probably pretty perfect but I do believe that if you aren’t doing anything at the moment you probably should be doing something. If you can’t get to the gym due to financial reasons or time constraints, Davina will be your personal exercise buddy in your own living room. I swear by her DVDs and I have a rocking body to prove it (vanity is not a side effect of the DVD but something I was born with.) I’m not going to bully you but you really, truly will feel better able to cope with everything going on emotionally in the lead up to the wedding if you exercise.

To be more specific I would recommend the following:

(Ideally atleast 6 weeks before your wedding but even 2 weeks before you will see a difference – the more time you put in the more results you will see.)

What’s The Least I Can Get Away With Doing?

Cut out all juice and squash – sugar is the devil and you are literally drinking extra meals by overloading on juice and squash

Cut alcohol intake by half

Davina cardio, 25 mins, once a week and toning sessions twice a week

What Should I Be Doing?

Eat more – of the right stuff. Fill up on veg, fruit, nuts, seeds, fish, chicken, omelettes, corn on the cobs, smoothies, jacket potato (preferably sweet potato) choices are endless

Cut out all juice and squash – sugar is the devil and you are literally drinking extra meals by overloading on juice and squash

Cut alcohol intake by half

Cut the crap – no crisps or chocolate for 5 days of the week

Davina cardio, 25 mins, twice a week and toning sessions twice a week

I Want A Peachy Bum And Washboard Abs

Eat more – of the right stuff. Fill up on veg, fruit, nuts, seeds, fish, chicken, omelettes, corn on the cobs, smoothies, jacket potato (preferably sweet potato) choices are endless, more exercise means you can include carbs like pasta; linguine with a splash of lemon juice and courgettes is low calorie but tastes great

Cut out all juice and squash – sugar is the devil and you are literally drinking extra meals by overloading on juice and squash

Cut alcohol intake by half

Cut the crap – no crisps or chocolate for 5 days of the week

If it swims it thins – up your fish intake

Eat more protein and less carbs – have bread free days

Davina cardio, 25 mins, three times a week and toning sessions three times a week

When you are a vision of bodily perfection and feeling calm walking down the aisle say a prayer to St Davina – I know I will.
