Your bridal beauty countdown

I’m currently bridesmaid for my best friend and the best part for me is helping her plan her beauty countdown. That’s the fun part! We started going to Bath Thermae Spa every two months since she got engaged… not just for treatments but for a safe, serene, quiet environment to talk through plans and keep the process as fun, not fraught. As we come into the 12-month countdown, here is what else I am recommending…

Decide on a beauty budget with your other half – and stick to it! It is not worth the arguments for something that is essentially one day of the rest of your life together.

Discuss any concerns with your dentist

Research new beauty treatments and experiment. For example, HD Brows can completely transform your face – I’ve blogged about that before. If you are interested in slimming, speak to a personal trainer and be sure to try 3D Lipo and consider a course. It gets results from the very much treatment and is perfect for brides AND grooms wanting to look their best.

Look into trying a new, more expensive range of products. I love the Dermalogica Range, used at MWAH Bournemouth. “We use their products on our clients, whether you are having a luxiourious Ultimate Facial, or a Medibac Clearing Facial because you have acne prone skin or perhaps you are having a Back Therapy Treatment or a Multi Vitamin Power Facial,” said owner Simone. “That’s what’s so great about Dermalogica; there are so many different products to deal with different skin issues. All the moisturisers have an SPF factor too!”

Schedule hair and make-up appointments for the big day. Wedding day hair including a trial at MWAH Bournemouth is £110. If budget allows, schedule a course of facials or, ideally, facial massage, which is ideal for removing panic-related bloat and fine lines.

Attend to any hair colour issues; book your hair and make up trials; agree hair and make up ideas with your bridesmaids (they may do their own make-up and hair, if so make sure none of them a tempted to sport blue ends, a la Kylie Jenner). At your make up trial, ask about air brush make up – Simone at MWAH tells me many brides chose this for an all-day flawless finish.

The week before

Confirm all appointments; get a mani-pedi; apply a fake tan and book a facial or use an at-home brand that your skin is used to (now is not the time to experiment!).
