Following the huge success of the Big Wedding Weekend last year, the event will again feature as the culmination of Southbank Centre’s summer-long Festival of Love on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August 2015.
Up to 100 couples will be able to marry, renew their vows or convert their civil partnership into marriage together in a number of communal ceremonies across the two days in the Royal Festival Hall in front of their guests, followed by celebratory entertainment including dancing on the Clore Ballroom. There will also be an option for all couples and their parties to eat together at a large wedding breakfast on The Clore Ballroom.
Southbank Centre will once again be transformed during its summer-long Festival of Love (6 June to 31 August) with installations, performances and free events exploring this rich and complex subject, which was enjoyed by 1.6 million people last year. In August 2014, to celebrate the year in which same-sex marriage became legal, 70 couples, including 15 same-sex couples, married or renewed their vows in ceremonies over two days on the stage of the iconic Royal Festival Hall, with singing by choirs and music performed on the organ.
